Xiaomi appears to have a packed second half of 2026 planned for India, with new Redmi phones and its next flagship lineup reportedly arriving within the next few months. Starting with the Redmi 17 in September, followed by the Redmi Note 17 Pro series, and even the flagship Xiaomi 18 Pro series tipped to arrive in India by the end of this year. Here’s what to expect from Xiaomi in India.
Redmi 17 series, Redmi Note 17 Pro India launch tipped
According to tipster Abhishek, the Redmi 17 series could launch in India on September 5th, while the Redmi Note 17 Pro series may follow on September 18th or September 20th. The tipster also claims that the Xiaomi 18 Pro series could arrive in India by December. Xiaomi has not officially confirmed any of these launch dates yet.
The Redmi Note 17 is already available in India. The Redmi 17 and Redmi Note 17 Pro would be the next phones to join, as both have already been launched in China, giving us an idea of what to expect from the upcoming Indian models.
The Redmi 17 5G is positioned as a more affordable, battery-focused smartphone. It features a 6.9-inch HD+ LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate and is powered by the 6nm Unisoc T8300 chipset, paired with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The phone also gets a 13MP rear camera, 8MP selfie camera, and a 6,300mAh battery with 15W charging support. More features include microSD expansion, HyperOS 3, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The Redmi Note 17 Pro is the more premium option here with a 6.83-inch 1.5K 120Hz OLED display and up to 3,500 nits peak brightness. It uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset, with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. Its biggest highlight is a huge 9,000mAh battery, backed by 67W fast charging and 22.5W reverse charging. This would be a major upgrade over the Redmi Note 15 Pro’s 6,580mAhbattery. The phone also carries IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings, along with stereo speakers and an in-display fingerprint sensor.
The two phones target different buyers. The Redmi 17 could appeal to users prioritising battery life and a large display at a lower price, while the Note 17 Pro is the more interesting option for those wanting a better screen, faster charging, and stronger overall hardware. If you’re in the market for a budget phone, waiting until September for the Redmi 17 could be worthwhile for its large battery. However, those using a Redmi Note 15 series phone may want to wait and compare the upgrades.
The biggest headline, however, could be the Xiaomi 18 Pro. The upcoming flagship is reportedly headed to India by December and is expected to feature a small secondary display on the rear. The Xiaomi 17 Pro series stood out for its secondary display design; however, it never made it to India. This could change with the rumoured Xiaomi 18 Pro as the brand gets more competitive in the flagship segment.
With the Redmi 17, Note 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 18 Pro potentially arriving within months of each other, buyers may have plenty of new Xiaomi options to consider before the year ends.
