Nothing but an Embarrassment Q5FB only.. Flipkart rocks!! By Aniruddha on 14 Nov, 2012
I am not sure whether people still think of buying this phone - as the model is quite old now. Nevertheless, for those who still consider buying it, the review might be useful. I had heard a lot about Micromax products being "value for money... ", "Decent phone" etc. So I thought - why not buy this phone? I bought it in May 2011 from Flipkart, the service of which was simply amazing as usual. Problems started after I started using the phone. The problems are as noted below. 1. Function as a phone: Many people complained that they could not hear my voice properly when I speak from this device. 2.Headset: quality is OK, but you could not change any radio channel, or pick a call by pressing the button on headset. And yes, the audio jack had a big issue. Even when I disconnected my headsets, many times the phone showed that headsets are still inserted, due to which I could not speak without headsets 3.Trackball: Initially it is amusing to use the trackball. But it loses sensitivity real soon, and then the mobile usage is severely impaired. 4.The software: Many of the apps did not work properly - facebook didnt work at all, nimbuzz worked partially, snaptu stopped working after some time. The audio player, too, is not very user friendly and a few of its functions don't work. 5.Micromax service: It seems that the warranty was not applicable to the trackball. Thank you very much. If I had to replace it, I would have to pay Rs 500. 6.Computer connectivity: It's very difficult to transfer files through this phone. Same difficulty might be faced when you want to make the phone act like a modem. Now some pro's: 1. Built in Yamaha speakers: Sound quality is very clear. 2. USB cable works as a charger - makes it very convenient to charge is anywhere. Battery life is good. So if you want to buy a basic phone - buy a branded one which comes for around Rs 2000. If you want a phone with some apps, add Rs 1000 extra for a better branded phone. Q5FB is good for few things.
