Review Summary
Expert Rating
The year 2026 has been quite rough for budget smartphones so far, with many affordable devices moving into higher price brackets. That is largely due to memory prices quadrupling sharply over the past few months, forcing OEMs to pass on the added cost to consumers. The latest itel Zeno 200 4G is very much a product of this environment, offering a balanced everyday experience at under Rs 10,000, albeit with quite a few compromises.
The device is ideal for users switching from a feature phone, older users, and people working with strict budget constraints. In this review, we will look at the Zeno 200’s day-to-day performance, cameras, battery life, and other relevant details to see if it gets the basics right.

Short verdict
The itel Zeno 200 is a good budget pick at Rs 9,999. The handset offers a smooth display, decent battery life, and useful software features, along with AI tools that add some convenience. However, slow charging and the lack of 5G hold it back. If you want a balanced phone for basic everyday use, it is a sensible choice.
Design: you immediately know it
The itel Zeno 200’s design is fairly simple, but it does have a clean, modern look thanks to the large camera island and flat rear panel. You’ll immediately notice that it looks eerily similar to Apple’s current design language, inspired by the iPhone 17 Pro series, and that’s a smart move for catching the eye of budget-conscious buyers. The Comet Orange finish gives the phone a more stylish, eye-catching character, while the blue and white variants look more subdued.

It also brings a few useful touches, including IP65 durability and military-grade certification. At the bottom, you get a USB Type-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a speaker grille, while the power and volume buttons sit on the right. The side-mounted fingerprint scanner works reliably and unlocks the device quickly.

Display and speakers: satisfactory multimedia experience
The itel Zeno 200 features a 6.75-inch HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 590 nits of peak brightness. The viewing experience is decent for the price. Colours look good, and brightness is fine indoors, although you will struggle a little outdoors. It is not the sharpest or smoothest panel around, but it does enough for what the phone is meant to deliver.

For audio, the phone comes with a single top-firing speaker, which is a little unusual. Most phones come with bottom firing speaker. That said, the Zeno 200 can get fairly loud and sounds decent for the price. I would have preferred a stereo setup, but the one speaker here still works reasonably well.

| Itel Zeno 200 4G | 6.75 inches - IPS LCD | 590 nits |

Performance: sufficient for day-to-day use
The itel Zeno 200 runs on a modest Unisoc T7250 chipset and comes with up to 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of eMMC 5.1 storage. Storage can also be expanded via a microSD card slot up to 2TB, which is quite useful. In terms of raw numbers, the phone sits at the lower end of this segment, but that is expected at this price point.

Performance is generally fine for basic use. There is some lag while doing everyday tasks like app switching or scrolling through social media, but that is not unusual for a phone in this category. Multitasking is limited, as the phone can really keep only a couple of apps running at once, and the slow storage also means app loading times can feel sluggish.

The itel smartphone handles simple tasks like video browsing, chats, and calls reasonably well, but you will still notice some lag even in those areas. Casual games run without much trouble, but something like BGMI is out of reach if you want smooth frame rates. So while the itel Zeno 200 is fine for light use, it is meant strictly for basic tasks and light gaming.

The itel Zeno 200 runs itelOS based on Android 15 Go out of the box. The software is basic, but it gets the job done. One noteworthy feature is the dynamic bar, which mimics the iPhone’s Dynamic Island and shows alerts like charging status, low battery warnings, and other quick notifications, making everyday interactions a bit more intuitive. I would have liked the OS to be Android 16, but for the budget segment, we can still consider this an acceptable compromise.
| Smartphone | Pre-Installed Apps | Software Support |
| Itel Zeno 200 4G | 43 | NA |
| realme P4 Lite 4G | 61 | NA |
| Ai+ Nova 2 5G | 32 | 1 Year OS Updates + 2 Year Security Updates |
The phone also comes with the Sola AI assistant, which adds a few useful features. You get a voice assistant that can call contacts, play songs on YouTube, and provide insights about images. There is also an AI writing assistant and a webpage summariser to help you get through content faster. While the response speed felt a bit slow at times, the features worked well enough and are useful for light productivity or hands-free control.
Battery: good endurance, slow charging
The itel Zeno 200 packs a standard 5,000mAh battery with support for 15W charging, and the charger included in the box is rated at 10W. While its PCMark score is a bit lower than some rivals, real-world battery life is still quite decent, especially considering the low-resolution display and lightweight OS.

The handset should comfortably last a full day for most users. In our 2-hour lab test, which included YouTube streaming and gaming, the battery dropped by 23 percent, which is roughly in line with what you would expect in this segment.

Charging speed, however, is slow. The phone takes about a little over 2 hours to go from 20 percent to full, which is not unusual for this category, but it is still a drawback.
| Smartphone | Battery Capacity | Charging Support | Charging time (20% to 100% ) |
| Itel Zeno 200 4G | 5000 mAh | NA | 2h 17m |
| realme P4 Lite 4G | 6300 mAh | NA | 2h 49m |
| Ai+ Nova 2 5G | 6000 mAh | NA | NA |
Cameras: acceptable for the price
The itel Zeno 200 comes with a basic camera setup that includes a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front shooter. The handset is built for point-and-shoot use and keeps things functional. In good lighting, daylight shots look vibrant, with decent detail and sharpness. The selfies turn out surprisingly detailed and look quite good when there’s sufficient light around.

Daylight
In regular, well-lit conditions, the itel Zeno 200 delivers better details and sharpness compared to the Realme P4 Lite. Looking at the colour reproduction of both images, itel’s image is also a better rendition of what the actual scene looked like. All in all, the Zeno 200 is a better daylight shot than the Realme P4 Lite.

Portrait
The itel Zeno 200 is clearly ahead of its competitors in portraits. Its edge detection, for starters, doesn’t break around the subject’s head like the Realme P4 Lite. When it comes to colours and overall detail level, the Zeno remains ahead of its competitor by a decent margin.

Selfie
Itel’s lead continues to increase even in selfies. The phone’s output has much better facial details and skin colours compared to its competitor, which makes it the superior shooter.

Low light (nightmode)
Low light conditions are where things get a little tricky, but the itel Zeno 200 maintains its lead here as well. Its output with the dedicated night mode enabled is better exposed and detailed compared to its peer, although its colour accuracy isn’t as good, since with increased exposure, it doesn’t represent the actual scene as faithfully.

Final verdict
The itel Zeno 200 offers good value at Rs 9,999 for the 4GB + 128GB variant, considering the current circumstances. The smartphone delivers decently on all the base essentials with a smooth 120Hz display, acceptable battery life, and functional software, while also adding a few AI features such as a voice assistant for hands-free control. Its biggest shortcomings are slow charging and no 5G support.
Competitors like the Realme P4 Lite (review) are comparable options with better software support and battery life, but if you want a more balanced overall offering, the itel Zeno 200 makes more sense.
