Aiming to grab a share of the pie in the highly competitive sub-Rs 35,000 smartphone segment, OPPO positions the K14 Plus as its latest upper-midrange smartphone to challenge POCO, Motorola, Realme, and others. Rocking the MediaTek Dimensity 7360 MAX processor, a generous 8,000mAh battery, and robust IP69/69K ratings, the OPPO K14 Plus impressed us with its overall value, as noted in our review.
However, like any smartphone, the OPPO K14 Plus excels in some areas but pulls back in others. To learn more about these areas in detail, read on.

Reasons to buy OPPO K14 Plus
Top-notch battery endurance
While phones with 10,000mAh batteries have become a common sight under Rs 40,000, the OPPO K14 Plus’s 8,000mAh battery won’t leave you disappointed, at least based on our testing and experience. When using the smartphone as a daily driver with a SIM card inserted, the K14 Plus offered around ten hours of screen-on time during a single charge over a period of three days.
Usage mainly included doomscrolling on Instagram, watching videos and movies on YouTube and Prime Video, chatting on WhatsApp, and playing casual games like Clash Royale, using a mix of WiFi and mobile data.

Similarly, in our in-house PCMark Battery drain test, which mimics real-world smartphone handling, such as watching and editing videos, viewing documents, web browsing, and more, the OPPO K14 Plus clocked 18 hours and 49 minutes from 100 to 20 percent. This score is slightly higher than the POCO X8’s 9,000mAh battery, which delivered 18 hours and 27 minutes in the same test.
Clean look, durable design
OPPO has struck the right balance of looks and ergonomics on the OPPO K14 Plus. Despite the 8,000mAh battery, the phone weighs just 208g, and its side profile measures 8.4mm. In comparison, the POCO X8 is heftier at 226g and thicker at 8.6mm, making the K14 Plus more manageable to carry around and more comfortable for long periods.

On top of that, the K14 Plus is well protected against heavy splashes or submersion in water with IP68, IP66, IP69, and IP69K ratings, while a 360-degree Armour Body has been deployed to reduce drop damage.
Outputs crisp, vivid display tones
The 6.78-inch 1.5K (2772 × 1272) flat AMOLED display impressed us with crisp detail and clarity, especially while streaming on YouTube. 4K content looked notably sharp, with no soft edges. In Vivid colour mode, the colours looked lively without feeling overdone, and the contrast struck a pleasing balance. While the device is rated at 144Hz, I only noticed that refresh rate in Subway Surfers; other apps and the system ran at 120Hz.

Ships with the latest Android version
The OPPO K14 Plus comes with Android 17 pre-installed with OPPO’s proprietary custom skin, ColorOS 16.5, layered on top. We’ve covered ColorOS 17 in a dedicated hands-on review on a flagship OnePlus 15, and the mid-range K14 Plus does a remarkable job of making the UI look identical. That said, the smartphone reduces blur details and textures and also cuts down on the fluid and seamless transitions.
While nerfing software effects is common on most midrange smartphones from other brands as well, ColorOS on the OPPO K14 Plus is a well-packed skin loaded with nifty features and customisation options. Compared with previous iterations, ColorOS 16.5 adds a couple of new lockscreen clocks and bouncy button and menu effects, while retaining key AI features. These include AI Writing, AI Eraser, AI Portrait Glow, AI Detail Boost, and AI Unblur.
With the MediaTek Dimensity 7360 MAX at its core, the K14 Plus delivers swift operation, opening apps and menus instantly for a responsive, quick software experience for day-to-day use.
Reasons to skip OPPO K14 Plus
Primary camera shots don’t come out lively
As noted in our review, the OPPO K14 Plus takes full advantage of its 50MP 1/2-inch primary camera with OIS to deliver appealing selfie, portrait, and low-light shots. However, standard daylight shots often look toned down to the point that the colours can look dull, even though the dynamic range and highlight contrast are well balanced. A future software update could fix this by increasing contrast and boosting saturation a bit in post-processing.
Trails behind the competition in OS upgrade longevity
Although the OPPO K14 Plus ships with the latest Android version out of the box, Android 17, its promise of two major OS upgrades and three years of security patches lags behind the competition. For instance, the K14 Plus’ closest rival, the POCO X8, launched with Android 16 and promises four OS upgrades and six years of security patches. Similarly, the Realme P4s (review), which often sells for under Rs 35,000, will get three OS upgrades and four years of security patches, giving it an edge in longer security support than the K14 Plus.
| Smartphone | Pre-Installed Apps | Software Support |
| OPPO K14 Plus 5G | 67 | 2 Year OS Updates + 3 Year Security Updates |
| POCO X8 5G | 75 | 4 Year OS Updates + 6 Year Security Updates |
| Motorola Edge 70 Fusion | 41 | 3 Years OS Updates + 5 Years Security Updates |
| realme P4s 5G | 58 | 3 Years OS Updates + 4 Years Security Updates |
Verdict
Overall, the OPPO K14 Plus is a viable pick at its current price of Rs 32,999 for those seeking a capable everyday midranger with strong battery endurance, striking yet clean looks with robust durability, and a charming AMOLED display with plenty of nifty software tricks.
However, if you want versatile or vivid daylight shots and want to stay ahead of the curve with the latest Android version for years to come, looking at other options may be a wiser choice. These include the POCO X8 at Rs 29,999, the Moto Edge 70 Fusion (review) at Rs 30,999, or spending extra for the slightly more powerful Realme P4s for Rs 34,999.
