The OPPO Reno 15, priced starting at Rs 45,999 in India, may not be the most affordable model in the company’s recently introduced Reno-series lineup. But it brings several features found in its more expensive ‘Pro’ siblings without breaking the bank. We got our hands on the Reno 15 (review), and while its stylish design and capable cameras left a strong first impression, it’s not a phone that will suit everyone. Read on as we break down the key reasons to consider the OPPO Reno 15, and the reasons you might want to look elsewhere

Reasons to buy OPPO Reno 15
Design that stands out

The Reno 15 is one of the most visually striking smartphones in its segment. OPPO’s new HoloFusion glass and Dynamic Stellar Ring camera module give the phone a refined, almost flagship-like presence. Moreover, the handset is slim, lightweight, comfortable to hold, and built to last, thanks to its aerospace-grade aluminium frame and top-tier IP66/IP68/IP69 water and dust resistance ratings.
Capable battery
With a 6,500mAh battery, the Reno 15 delivers consistent, all-day battery life for everyday users. Whether it’s navigation, social media, streaming, or casual gaming, the phone comfortably lasts a full day on a single charge. Additionally, the bundled 80W fast charger ensures minimal downtime, topping up the battery in under an hour.
Strong primary & telephoto cameras
Despite using the same camera hardware as its predecessor, the Reno 15’s camera setup remains a key strength. The 50MP primary sensor captures detailed, well-exposed photos across lighting conditions, while the 3.5x telephoto lens produces clean portraits with reliable edge detection. If you are seeking a good mid-range camera smartphone, the Reno 15 won’t disappoint.
Long-term software support

The OPPO Reno 15 runs the latest ColorOS 16 out of the box. While it may come with a slew of apps pre-installed, the experience remains polished, fluid, and feature-rich. Animations are smooth, everyday interactions feel responsive, and the phone offers extensive customisation. To top it all, OPPO’s long-term software promise, five major Android updates and six years of security patches, adds significant value for buyers planning to keep their phone for years.
Reasons not to buy OPPO Reno 15
Adequate performance, not class-leading

The OPPO Reno 15 is powered by a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 SoC, which handles daily tasks with ease. App launches are quick, multitasking is smooth under normal workloads, and popular games like BGMI and Call of Duty: Mobile run reliably at stable frame rates, provided sessions aren’t overly long.
However, for its asking price, the performance remains underwhelming, especially when similarly priced OnePlus 15R (review) delivers faster Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC chipsets and superior gaming performance.
Underwhelming ultrawide camera

While the OPPO Reno 15 features a versatile camera setup, its 8MP ultrawide lens doesn’t hold up well in capturing a wide perspective. It is only good in daylight, but in that too, you will find the lens struggling with details, colour consistency, and distortion around the edges.
No meaningful upgrades
The OPPO Reno 15 remains nearly identical to its predecessor, the OPPO Reno 14 (review), which is priced far more competitively at Rs 37,999 for the base 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. If you already own the OPPO Reno 14, there’s little reason to upgrade. Performance remains largely the same despite the chipset change; camera hardware and output are virtually unchanged; the display parameters are also the same. The only notable upgrade is the larger battery, which makes the Reno 15 feel more like a refinement rather than a true generational leap.
