iQOO 15 is one of the upcoming Android flagships with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. The brand has been teasing the device, and now its official launch date for China has been revealed. The iQOO 15 will debut on October 20th in China. It’s expected to arrive in other markets, including India, before the end of this year. Ahead of the launch, official details of the iQOO 15 have been revealed, including its design, colour options, and some specs.

Colour-changing design

The iQOO 15 will be available in four colours: Soaring Cloud Edition, Legend Edition, Wilderness Edition, and Track Edition. These might not be the official names as they’re based on translated text from iQOO’s Weibo page. Of the four, the Soaring Cloud Edition features cloud patterns, whose colour shifts from different angles. The rest three are more subtle but feature the Halo light strip around the camera module, which gives a nice touch to the overall look.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and Q3 gaming chip

iQOO 15 will be one of the first phones to launch with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. It will be a generational upgrade over the iQOO 13’s Snapdragon 8 Elite. Users can expect 20 percent faster performance and improved CPU efficiency by 35 percent from the new chipset. Adding to this is the in-house Q3 gaming chip, an upgrade over the iQOO 13’s Q2 gaming chip. iQOO claims that the new Q3 chip offers full-scene ray tracing, PC-level super-resolution, and native-level super-frame rates.

The new iQOO flagship is also touted as the only phone to offer a 2K display with a 144 FPS refresh rate for gaming. According to the brand’s Weibo post, the iQOO 15 could achieve an average fame rate of 143.76, while playing CrossFire Mobile, a first-person shooter game. This is highly impressive, and it gives us quite to look forward to with the iQOO 15’s gaming performance.

The smartphone is confirmed to feature a 6.85-inch 2K display with a 144Hz 2K refresh rate. This is similar to the iQOO 13 (review), but the display size has slightly increased from 6.82-inch to 6.85-inch on the new flagship. More confirmed details include IP68+IP69 rating for dust and water resistance, and a new generation of ultrasonic 3D fingerprint sensor. iQOO has also finally added support for wireless charging, which was missing on the previous model. This is a major flagship requirement even though it may not be used widely.

Following its debut in China, the iQOO 15 is expected to launch in India soon. The iQOO 13 was launched at Rs 54,999, making it one of the most affordable flagships. If the iQOO 15 launches at a similar price bracket, then it would definitely give it an edge over other flagships in India.
