Lava has launched its latest budget smartphone, the Shark 2 4G, in India, expanding its lineup of entry-level devices. Priced at Rs 6,999, the handset aims to appeal to first-time smartphone buyers and anyone looking for an affordable option with modern features.

The Lava SHARK 2 4G succeeds the Shark 4G and brings upgrades across performance, display, and design. It features a 6.75-inch HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a relatively rare inclusion in this price segment. With a 120Hz refresh rate, you can expect smooth animations and scrolling. Powering the device is an octa-core Unisoc T7250 processor paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage with virtual RAM support.

In the camera department, the Shark 2 sports a 50MP AI rear sensor and an 8MP front camera. This is a decent camera setup considering the phone’s price. It packs a 5,000mAh battery with USB Type-C charging (10W in-box, 18W supported). The smartphone carries an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance, another practical addition at this price point.

The device ships with Android 15 out of the box, offering one OS upgrade and two years of security updates. It also continues Lava’s promise of a bloatware-free, ad-free user experience, which has been a differentiator in the brand’s budget lineup. Additionally, buyers will get a free service at home support across India.

The Lava Shark 2 4G will be available in Eclipse Grey and Aurora Gold color variants across retail stores starting in October 2025.

At Rs 6,999, the Lava Shark 2 4G offers a strong value proposition for entry-level users who want a clean Android experience, a large high-refresh display, and a capable camera setup without spending much. However, those prioritising 5G connectivity or faster charging speeds may want to consider alternatives in the higher price range between Rs 8,000 and Rs 10,000 from brands like itel, Infinix, or Redmi.

For users upgrading from feature phones or older 4G devices, the Shark 2 4G appears to be a well-rounded, no-nonsense option focused on essentials rather than gimmicks.
