After Raj Babbar signed the film, he had major problems with the producers. The producer blasted Babbar in all the magazines. He was replaced with Shafi Inamdar.
The film was launched with Hema Malini,Raj Babbar, Vijayta Pandit,Rajan Sippy. Vijayta demanded to see a film of her co star Rajan before she would okay being in the film. The producer Gul Kochar was previous working in a film titled "Raahi" with Vijayta and it got shelved. He decided to use her Raahee dates for Anjaam . But for some reason Vijaytya kept making excuses not to do the film. She was finally replaced with Rati Agnihothri. When Rati was signed ,Hema Malini started to tell the producer she was unavailable. She did not want to play mother to Rati Agnihothri. Rati then returned the signing amount because she was getting married. Newfind Parijat was signed. Raj Babbar started making demands to his role. He wanted some positive shades to his role. He felt Hema's role was too strong compared to his that was a out and out villains role. Raj Babbar was replaced with Shafi Inamdar. Babbar refused to return the signing amount. He kept telling the producer he would adjust it in his next film. But the producer did not want to work with Babbar anymore.
