Story

Lack-lustred and alcoholic Pratap Narayan Tilak is given a rude awakening when he meets with journalist Megha Dixit, and decides to instill some sense of justice and fair play within his community, and get them to assertively defend their rights and freedom. He is met with strong resistance, both from within his very own community, the police, and some very powerful and influential politicians. Distributors from few regions wanted to back out from the film as Nana Patekar was playing a solo role in a mainstream film.Mehul Kumar assured them that he wouldn't ask them any penny to whatever amount they have payed him at the moment and he will bear the further losses if film doesn't work.During the trial show the same distributors got ready to pour any amount of money fro the film.

Nana's last speech was all impromtu, the dialogues were not written.

In real life Nana Patekar is older than Paresh Rawal but Paresh played the role of a man way older than Nana in this movie.

Kapil Sharma reveled in his show The Kapil Sharma show that during his childhood days Karntiveer 1994 would often come on TV during Republic Day and Independence Day as a kid he believed that Nana Patekar is the one who has given freedom for the country.

The film won Nana Patekar tremendous acclaim.
