The production number "'Cause I'm a Blonde" was shot and inserted into the movie during post-production to compensate for other scenes that were deleted.
Much of the language that the aliens speak is actually just the dialogue being read backwards. (This is particularly obvious with Wiploc during his conversations with Zeebo.) For example, 'from' becomes "morf", and 'females' becomes "selamef".
Michael McKean was originally cast as Dr. Ted Gallagher, and Charles Rocket was originally cast as Woody before they swapped roles.
Production was halted during a scene where a woman backs into a cactus, because the director didn't think the cactus needles were reading on film. The needles were ultimately coated with clear nail polish.
