The tie in the pivotal opening scene was donated by Jim Belushi, who was originally considered for the role of McQuade, but was forced to drop out due to conflicts with the shooting schedule for Taking Care of Business (1990).
Director Duncan Gibbins tragically died in a fire in November 1993, aged just 41. This was his second and final feature film.
US posters and video covers for this film concentrate on Gregory Hines character. However in Europe, Hines was not considered to be a major star and the posters and covers used publicity stills of Renée Soutendijk in the red leather jacket and tight black skirt holding an Uzi sub-machine gun as she does in the film,
