The original title of the film was "Love Letter". After it got completed "First" was added due to legal issues. The first batch of audio cassettes released had the original title "Love Letter" on the audio cassettes. Later "First" was added the posters and cassettes when the film released.
The director name is Shiv Kumar, who made some films. In this film his name was changed to Shiva.
The same stars in this film were being introduced by Subhash Ghai in Saudagar. First Love Letter was completed before Saudagar. So the producer Pahlaj Nihalani had to wait till Saudagar to release then he could release his film.
Pahlaj Nihalani claimed Danny Denzonpa and Chunky Pandey did not ask for any money for doing the movie.
Pahlaj Nihalani was upset with Vivek Mushran and stated he was unprofessional. He said the first 2 schedules went by ok, it was the third that went bad. Vivek would keep asking Ghai's opinion for every little thing. This bothered Nihalani because he felt Ghai was interfering. Then Vivek would be rude to visitors on the sets. He refused director Shiva's next film and when Hema Malini arrived to sign him for Dil Aashna Hain.
