TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

The video of George and young Sam playing in the surf was shot by Kevin Kline's wife, Phoebe Cates. She videotaped Kevin and their son Owen on the beach in Bermuda.

The featured house had to be removed after filming, but Costume Designer Molly Maginnis led a group of parents that had it dismantled, reconstructed, and enlarged to become a library for the Kenter Canyon school in Brentwood, California. The new library opened in April 2004.

In the audio commentary of the DVD, Producer and Director Irwin Winkler stated that Kevin Kline lost about twenty-five pounds. He was also on a constant diet and had a trainer with him. But he was not sick. It's to let the audience think George is getting sicker and sicker.

Lindsay Lohan, who was fourteen-years-old at the time of production and casting, was strongly considered for the role of Alyssa Beck, and even screentested for it. While the filmmakers were impressed with Lohan, they ultimately gave Jena Malone the part, deciding they wanted someone a little bit older.

Theatrical movie debut of Ian Somerhalder (Josh).

Popular Dialogues

"George: You know the great thing, though, is that change can be so constant you don't even feel the difference until there is one. It can be so slow that you don't even notice that your life is better or worse, until it is. Or it can just blow you away, make you something different in an instant. It happened to me."

"George: Do I still Love you? Absolutely. There is not a doubt in my mind. Through all my mind, my ego... I was always faithful in my Love for you. That I made you doubt it, that is the great mistake of a Life full of mistakes. The truth doesn't set us free, Robin. I can tell you I Love you as many times as you can stand to hear it and all that does, the only thing, is remind us... that Love is not enough. Not even close."
