Peter Fonda acted in this film for SAG minimum and paid for his own airline ticket to be flown to the East Coast to act in this movie.
Peter Fonda was cast at the suggestion of Eric Stoltz who, due to other commitments, was unable to take a part in the film. At the time, Stoltz was Bridget Fonda's boyfriend, Bridget of course being Peter Fonda's daughter.
An abandoned cancer ward in New York City was the location used for Nadja's Transylvania castle.
"Nadja" was partially filmed with a toy camera produced by Fisher Price that used audio tape to record a very low resolution black & white picture. It was called the PXL2000 or PixelVision, and was only on the market for a year, starting in 1987.
Chocolate milk was used to simulate blood.
