IMDbIt's quite difficult to tell Bob Ross apart from "Paint." Owen Wilson indeed shares the same afro, pillowy whisper, and enthusiasm for capturing the sights and sounds of nature. Technically though, this is Carl Nargle's narrative, a Vermont-based public access fixture who lost his local notoriety due to a creative slump and some bad interactions with female coworkers. Using the true fact that the real Ross had an affair with a business partner and was handsy with his female coworkers, McAdams struggles to build on Ross' serene image by demonstrating how he might be problematic. This strategy lacks the humorous or dramatic abilities to be engaging or interesting. Ross frequently proclaimed that mistakes were nothing more than fortunate occurrences. He wasn't always right, as seen by a muddle like "Paint" that uses only generalizations without making any sense. Although we're not entirely clear how the film wants us to feel about anything, it feels awkward and not hilarious.
