Rockstar Review

Rockstar is a musical drama movie that revolves around Jordan, a talented but troubled musician from Delhi who finds fame and success after overcoming numerous obstacles and leaving his family home. However, their families are against their union as they belong to different cultural backgrounds, and they must convince their parents to accept their love. The cult classic film is known for its iconic dialogues, beautiful music, and picturesque locations, which make it a pleasing watch. Furthermore, the casting of Ranbir Kapoor as the protagonist is bang on and you end up experiencing a raw performance by the actor. Overall, Rockstar is a film that is made for true musical movie fans, with soulful music and performances. However, if you are not a fan of this genre, you might think the film is slightly extended or boring.

TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Ranbir Kapoor had to take many efforts to transform himself into a rock star. He practiced guitar at A. R. Rahman's studio for many days, read Kurt Cobain's biography and familiarized himself with him.

The film was shot in reverse as the crew didn't want to break the continuity of Ranbir Kapoor's hairstyle. So the climax with long hair was shot first.

Director Imtiaz Ali, who loved Kareena Kapoor's performance in his Jab We Met wanted to cast her in Rockstar. However, the script in Rockstar required some romantic scenes between the romantic leads. As Ranbir and Kareena happened to be cousins, this would have been a problem. She was replaced by Nargis Fakhri.

Huge crowd of audience got out of the theater believing Jordan died in the end, that was not true, but exactly what was planned in the first place by script writers.

During the Sadda Haq sequence several scenes show Tibetans and Jordan performing in front of them. Several posters have 'give us our rights' written on them. The song literally means the same. This is an indirect support of the Tibetan cause of freedom from China from Imtiaz Ali. He has also stated that his next movie would be directly based on the same. Though the posters directly showing the word 'Tibet', it was blurred in the theatrical version.

Popular Dialogues

"Janardan Jakhar: Many years ago there was a jungle over here. A dense and fearsome jungle. Then one day, a city came up in its place. Neat and tidy houses, wide roads.Everything became planned and proper."

"Janardan Jakhar: Beyond the world of right doing n wrong doing, there is a world & we will meet there"
