After finishing this film, Jennifer Connelly and Maddie Corman both auditioned for the lead role in Labyrinth (1986). Innitially Corman was very much considered, but when Connelly auditioned it was clear to director Jim Henson that she was the right choice.
Polly Draper plays Byron Thames mother in the movie, but is fourteen years older than him in real life.
When you see Jeff talking to his mother in front of the video store, you see video cassette boxes of films directed by Francis Ford Coppola who produced this film uncredited. They are Rumble Fish, and The Outsiders and also Over The Edge, which starred Matt Dillion in his debut role and the others featured as part of the cast. You can also very briefly, a video advertisement for The Empire Strikes Back, which made its' video debut in the fall of 1984 while this film was made.
Finally released in the Spring of 1986 after sitting on the shelf for a almost a year with filming having been completed in late 1984. The film was barely seen and almost instantly went straight to cable soon after.
