TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Based on a discarded John Grisham manuscript.

When released, this was the only John Grisham movie not adapted from one of his novels. Instead, it was from an original screenplay from Grisham.

Robert Altman said that one of the reasons he took on this movie was because he had never directed a thriller before, and wanted to give the genre a try.

The screenplay is credited to "Al Hayes". This pseudonym covers for John Grisham, who objected to the foul language that Altman added to his original screenplay.

Before Robert Altman and Embeth Davidtz came on to direct and play the female lead in the movie, respectively, John Dahl and Annette Bening were due to take on these roles.

Popular Dialogues

"Pete Randle: I wouldn't spare a drop of piss on her if she was burnin' to death. Rick Magruder: Yeah, we're aware of your urinary problems, sir."

"Lois Harlan: The only exercise you are gettin' is jumpin' to conclusions."
