IMDbThe Watcher is a mystery thriller series that shows the story of a harmless family who moves into a new house only to be greeted by suspicious letters, threats, and creepy neighbours. The highlight of the show is its decent pace that allows for expanded storytelling throughout. However, the writing could have been better. It could have been tighter during certain episodes where audiences might feel slightly bored. Ryan Murphy's casting of the lead protagonists is also pretty good, as they manage to protect the charisma on screen despite the average script. Inspired by a true story, the tale has been told well by the creators, except the conclusion that could have been improved had it been given some more thought. Apart from that, the creepiness factor, which is synonymous with psychological dramas, is blended well into the story and makes for a good one-time viewing at the very least.

The real Broaddus couple purchased 657 Boulevard in June 2014 for $1.35 million and sold it five years later in July 2019 for $959,000.
Based on the true case, beginning in 2014, of the Broaddus family, who were spied on, threatened, and ultimately driven to sell their home & leave the town they loved, by a mysterious stalker who identified themselves only as "The Watcher" in the letters sent to Mr & Mrs Broaddus.
The John Graff murders shown in the show bear a striking resemblance to the John List murders which also occurred in Westfield but at 431 Hillside Ave instead of 657 Boulevard.
In episode 2, the family stays at the Tides Motor Inn, which is located in Bayville NY, 60 miles from Westfield NJ.
