PS5 Pro launching in India soon? Console gets listed on BIS certification
The Sony PS5 Pro may finally see the light of day in India soon. While Sony has not officially revealed a launch timeline yet, recent developments suggest its arrival in the market could be imminent after being delayed due to regulatory issues related to Wi-Fi 7. The PS5 Pro has been spotted on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification website, which is a mandatory step before a product can be launched in the country.
The product was first spotted on the BIS listing by analyst Arjun Campbell, carrying the model number CFI-7121. This model number corresponds to the hardware revision of the PlayStation Pro released in 2025. The listing does not reveal any hardware details, but since the console has already been official since 2024, there is little left to speculate about.

The PS5 Pro is an incremental upgrade to the standard PS5, which was released back in 2020. The console comes with the latest Wi-Fi 7 support, which brings faster speed, lower latency, and more capacity than previous-gen Wi-Fi 6. However, the real-world impact may be limited for most users, as the 6GHz band that enables many of Wi-Fi 7’s advantages is still restricted to select use cases in India.
The real difference between the PS5 Pro and the PS5 will primarily lie in the visuals. Thanks to its more powerful RDNA graphics architecture, which delivers 16.7 teraflops of GPU compute performance, along with improved ray-tracing capabilities and Sony’s PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) technology, the PS5 Pro is expected to offer smoother frame rates and sharper visuals through AI-powered upscaling, resulting in a more refined gaming experience.
Furthermore, the increased storage capacity, 2TB compared to 1TB on the PS5, will allow users to keep more games installed at the same time. The rest of the PS5 Pro specifications are pretty much the same. If you want a console capable of handling next-generation graphics features, supporting high-resolution 4K and even 8K displays, and running demanding titles built on more advanced game engines, the PS5 Pro could be worth waiting for.
That said, all these improvements are likely to come at a price. The standard PS5 is currently selling in India starting at Rs 49,999. While the PS5 Pro India price has not been revealed, it has been retailing in the US for $749.99 (~Rs 69,000). If you want a console capable of handling next-generation graphics features, supporting high-resolution 4K and even 8K displays, and running demanding titles built on more advanced game engines, the PS5 Pro could be worth waiting for.
No other console currently comes close to the PS5 Pro in terms of performance. Its closest rival, the Xbox Series X, currently listed on Flipkart at Rs 55,990, supports ray tracing and high-frame-rate gaming, but it falls short of the raw graphical power and larger storage capacity that the PS5 Pro brings to the table.
