Apple recently introduced the MacBook Air with the new in-house M3 chip. Now, according to noted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the Cupertino giant is working on a foldable product but it is not what you think. It’s a new 20.30-inch MacBook that will have a foldable screen. The analyst has also shared the timeline as to when it will enter mass production.

20.3-inch foldable MacBook from Apple

  • Apple is reportedly working on a new foldable MacBook and this will have a 20.3-inch screen, as per Ming-Chi Kuo’s post on X (formerly Twitter).
  • This new MacBook model is expected to enter mass production in 2027, as per Kuo.
  • Unfortunately, no other details of the product are revealed at the moment.

Kuo is the third source to suggest the possibility of a new 20-inch foldable MacBook. Industry analyst Ross Young and the Korean website The Elec were the two other sources. At the moment, Apple’s largest MacBook is the 16-inch MacBook Pro and once offered a 17-inch MacBook Pro, which was discontinued in 2012.

The new foldable MacBook will have a screen that measures around 20 inches diagonally when fully expanded. Kup hasn’t divulged any details about the design of the MacBook at the moment.

However, he clearly mentioned that the 20-inch MacBook is Apple’s only foldable with a development schedule, which suggests the foldable iPhones or iPads with foldable screens are not in development at the moment. This means that Apple will be lagging when compared to Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus and other noted players on the market who are expanding their foldable portfolio gradually. We should learn more details going forward.
