"Asus has said that the new refresh in laptops will be headlined by the Zephyrus Duo 15"
Asus' gaming arm, Republic of Gamers (ROG), has announced on April 2nd a top to down refresh of its laptops and powered the new offerings with the 10th-gen Intel H-series CPUs and NVIDIA's RTX-series GPUs. The company's announcement comes at the heels of Intel announcing its new lineup of 10th-gen silicone with the top-end variant supporting a clock speed of 5.3GHz.
The Taiwanese electronics giant has said that the new refresh in laptops will be headlined by the Zephyrus Duo 15 with its ROG ScreenPad Plus touchscreen. Apart from this, there will also be increments to the Zephyrus S, M, and G models. Asus says that the upgraded ROG Strix SCAR with the RTX 2080 SUPER GPUs and 300 Hz panels will be the ideal companion for gamers who wish to participate in competitive esports. The ROG Strix G15 Electro Punk laptop and the matching accessories are said to open new possibilities for personal expressions.
The main attraction of the Asus Zephyrus Duo 15 is the ROG ScreenPad Plus, which is basically a secondary-screen which has been placed just above the keyboard and trackpad. The main display is a 15.6-inch panel while the ScreenPad Plus is a 14.1-inch 4K IPS panel, both of which have touchscreen functionality. The hinge keeps the ScreenPad Plus at a 13-degree angle for comfortable viewing. This also makes room for Active Aerodynamic System (AAS) Plus cooling solution. In terms of specs, the Zephyrus Duo 15 can be powered by a maximum of 10th Gen Intel Core i9 CPU and the RTX 2080 SUPER GPU. The main display also comes with a 300Hz refresh rate and 100 percent Adobe RGB coverage.
The S17 has a 17.3-inch display packed in an 18.7-millimeter-thin chassis. The 300Hz refresh rate is carried over from the Duo 15 as is the bottom placement of the keyboard and trackpad along wit the Active Aerodynamic System (AAS) Plus cooling solution. The device can be paired with a maximum of 10th Gen Intel Core i7 CPU and RTX 2080 SUPER GPU. There is also an additional functionality called GPU Switch technology which will provide a switch between G-SYNC mode for the best gaming experience and Optimus mode for longer battery life.
The M15 sits slightly below the S17 and Dua 15 to provide a balance of value and performance, says the company. There is a range of configuration options including a choice to choose from 240Hz and 144Hz FHD panels and a 4K UHD display. In terms of graphical needs, the choices range from GeForce GTX 1660 Ti up to the RTX 2070 GPU. The device is powered by the eight cores and 16 threads of a 10th Gen Intel Core i7 processor. Connectivity-wise the laptop has Thunderbolt 3, dual display outputs, USB 3.0 ports and more.
