The ASUS ROG Phone 7 Pro, a top-variant gaming smartphone from the Taiwanese electronics brand, is tipped to launch globally next week. According to reports, the smartphone, along with its base variant — the ASUS ROG Phone 7, is expected to be launched on Thursday, April 13th. Now, ahead of its launch, official-looking design renders of the smartphone, complete with an attached ‘Active Aero’ external cooling module, have been posted online by tipster Evan Blass, giving us a rather comprehensive idea of what the gaming smartphone could come with.

What the ASUS ROG Phone 7 Pro looks like

To be sure, there’s no surprise whatsoever in the overall design of the ASUS ROG Phone 7 Pro, for it looks exactly the same as what the ROG Phone 6 Pro (and even its predecessor) looked like. The ROG Phone 7 Pro has near-identical dimensions as its two previous generations, and features a front camera to the top-left corner of the display. The bezels are slim on the sides, but the top bezels are sizeable in order to accommodate the stereo speakers.

To the rear, the ASUS ROG Phone 7 Pro appears to feature a triple rear camera setup, with its branding details revealing support for 8K video recording with the smartphone. There is also a secondary display to the rear that is purely cosmetic, and can be configured from within ASUS’ custom ROG UI Android 13 interface.

The aero cooling module, which will activate and start cooling the smartphone during prolonged esports sessions in particular (since this generates the most amount of heat), is the same as the one that was supported by the older generation gaming phone. As a result, there is no difference in what this unit can do — including its RGB LED lighting on the rear.

Expected specifications

The ASUS ROG Phone 7 Pro is tipped to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC clocked at 3.19GHz, along with up to 16GB memory. It may also come with a 6.78-inch full HD+ AMOLED display with 165Hz refresh rate and 720Hz touch sampling rate — the exact same as its predecessor. It could also get a Sony IMX766 50MP primary image sensor on the main rear camera, coupled with a 13MP ultra-wide unit and a 5MP macro unit.
