Fire-Boltt could soon launch smartphones in India; may initially target the sub-Rs 20,000 segment

Highlights

In a move to target a different user base other than wearable buyers, Fire-Boltt is reportedly set to enter the smartphone market in India, initially targeting the sub-Rs 20,000 segment. According to an exclusive report by Smartprix, the company’s first smartphones could launch within the next few weeks. This won’t be the first time a new entrant will mark its presence in the smartphone space with sub-Rs 20,000 phones, as brands like Ai+ and Alcatel started their journey in India with a bunch of affordable phones.

What is Fire-Boltt likely to bring to the table?

Per Smartprix’s report, Fire-Boltt will release its smartphones under the “Bollt” branding and carve out its identity from thereon. This will also help the company maintain distinction from its wearables portfolio, which will continue to use the “Fire-Boltt” brand name.

It appears that Fire-Boltt has mapped out a long-term plan, as the report states that the initial lineup will comprise two to three smartphones, all priced under Rs 20,000. These handsets will utilise Unisoc processors with the main aim of delivering reliable and affordable performance, per the report. As of late, we’ve already seen a bunch of sub-Rs 20,000 4G and 5G phones powered by Unisoc, such as the Lava Shark 2 5G (review) with Unisoc T8200 at Rs 11,999, HMD Vibe 2, also running on Unisoc T8200 at Rs 12,999, and others.
