Google Bard new features

Gemini Pro in more language

  • Google has expanded the availability of Gemini Pro in Bard to over 40 languages and more than 230 countries and territories.
  • The Large Model Systems Organisation, a prominent evaluator of language models and chatbots, recently acknowledged Bard with Gemini Pro as one of the most preferred chatbots available.
  • Google says blind evaluations conducted with third-party raters further identified Bard with Gemini Pro as a top-performing conversational AI.

Generate AI images

  • The latest update in Bard now allows users to generate images in English across most countries globally.
  • Google says this feature is made possible by the upgraded Imagen 2 model, designed to maintain a balance between quality and speed.
  • Users can simply input a description, such as “create an image of a dog riding a surfboard”.
  • Bard will utilise this information to generate a custom and diverse range of visuals, offering a dynamic tool to bring creative ideas to life.

As per reports, Google is set to incorporate a watermarking feature directly into the pixels of photos, serving as an indicator of AI generation. The company emphasises the implementation of technical and safety protocols to prevent the generation of images featuring well-known individuals and to restrict the inclusion of violent, offensive, or sexually explicit content.

Verify responses in multiple languages

  • Google has announced that the double-check feature is now being extended to over 40 languages in the AI chatbot.
  • This feature can be accessed by clicking the “G” icon that allows Bard to assess if there is online content supporting or contradicting its response.
  • Users can click on highlighted phrases to explore additional information sourced by Search, providing a means to independently corroborate Bard’s information.

On the other hand, Google has also introduced ImageFX, an experimental photo tool driven by Imagen 2. This tool empowers users to craft images using uncomplicated text prompts, encouraging interactive exploration of generative AI. User feedback from ImageFX directly informs Google engineers.

Similar to Bard, all images produced through ImageFX will carry SynthID markings, aligning with Google’s AI principles and technical guidelines. ImageFX joins the lineup of Google’s AI creation tools, including MusicFX and TextFX, introduced last year and is now available for testing on Google Labs.
