Google appears to have slipped an unfamiliar fitness tracker into two Pixel 11 advertisements, raising questions about whether the company is preparing another wearable alongside the Pixel Watch 5 and Fitbit Air. The small device has a display and resembles a cross between Fitbit’s existing trackers, but Google hasn’t confirmed what it is.
New Google fitness tracker
The two Pixel 11 ads, which have appeared on YouTube for some users with screenshots posted on Reddit, showcase Google’s refreshed hardware lineup. One features two Pixel 11 phones alongside the Pixel Watch 5 in Fog finishes, while another highlights the range of green finishes across this year’s devices. In both ads, however, a small screen-equipped tracker can be seen alongside the Pixel products. It has an oblong display showing what appears to be a condensed version of the Pixel Watch 5’s interface.
The device shares the basic pebble-like shape of the Fitbit Air, Google’s screen-less fitness tracker, but its appearance is closer to a Fitbit Charge tracker because of the display. Screenshots shared by a Reddit user show the same device appearing in multiple ads, and another user has reportedly seen it as well. That makes an accidental one-off rendering or AI-generated image less likely, although there is still no confirmation that the product is real.
Could this be a new Fitbit Charge?
The obvious possibility is a new screen-equipped Fitbit fitness tracker. The Fitbit Charge 6 launched in 2023, meaning the series is now around three years old. Google hasn’t revealed a Charge 7, however, and there have been no concrete leaks pointing to one. The timing would make a new tracker likely, even as Google has positioned Fitbit as its dedicated fitness hardware brand while its software efforts have moved under Google Health.
Screen-equipped trackers such as the Charge series offer a middle ground between basic fitness bands and full smartwatches, while screen-less devices are gaining attention for users who want simpler, less distracting wearables. A new Charge could therefore complement rather than replace the Fitbit Air.
The Fitbit Air as of now remains the more relevant option for someone specifically looking for a screen-less tracker, while the Pixel Watch 5 is the better fit for users who want a fuller smartwatch experience. The mysterious device could eventually fill the gap between them, but until Google confirms what appeared in the Pixel 11 ads, it is best treated as an intriguing clue rather than a confirmed product. Meanwhile, the Fitbit Air is confirmed to launch in India in October, so those interested in a screen-less tracker in the country have something to look forward to.
