Just like most globally launched smartphones from prominent brands, the Google Pixel 11 Pro XL arrived at YouTuber Zack Nelson’s desk. Going by the name JerryRigEverything, Zack is known for putting smartphones through their paces by conducting several rigorous tests, such as scratch, heat, and bend tests, and even disassembling them to showcase the engineering on the inside. With that out of the way, here’s how the Pixel 11 Pro XL has fared in the test.

Google Pixel 11 Pro XL goes through JerryRigEverything’s durability test
Starting with the scratch test using different Mohs hardness scale picks, the Pixel 11 Pro XL’s Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2-protected display scratches at Mohs level 6, which results in micro-scratches that look slightly less pronounced than usual, while deeper grooves form at level 7. Even though Google claims the display is more than twice as scratch-resistant as previous generations, this outcome is a common affair on most midrange and flagship devices.
Turning to the sideframe, the Google Pixel 11 Pro XL is housed in an aluminium chassis with a paint finish. Upon scratching the sideframe using a cutter, it shows scratch marks relatively easily, which has always been the case with previous Pixel phones equipped with a polished frame.
Unlike the composite glass panel on the Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold, the Pixel 11 Pro XL uses regular glass. Neither the back glass nor the camera glass is easily scratched by a cutter, while the metal housing can be damaged relatively easily.
On to the most crucial test that assesses the phone’s structural integrity, the chassis barely flexes in either direction when bent with brute force, indicating an extremely solid build. Even though in real-world use there will be hardly any instances of a phone being bent as shown in the video, it’s good to know the phone will survive such harsh conditions.
Google Pixel 11 Pro XL is easy to repair
As shown in the video, the Pixel 11 Pro XL is very easy to open from both the front and back using a heat gun and pry tool. Furthermore, the display and battery can be removed in just a few minutes, while the battery has convenient pull tabs for easy replacement. In the US, Google even sells official spare parts through iFixit for repairing faulty parts in the comfort of users’ homes. In the end, Zack calls it one of the easiest phones to repair in 2026.
For those upgrading from older Pixels, or any smartphone for that matter, the improved repairability is a significant step forward.
