Intel will collaborate with eight Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) companies and Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs).
Intel will work with companies such as Bhagwati Products Ltd, Dixon Technologies India Ltd, Kaynes Technology India Ltd, Optiemus Electronics Ltd, Panache Digilife Ltd, Smile Electronics Ltd, Syrma SGS Technology Ltd, and VVDN Technologies Private Ltd.
For some of these companies, this will be the first foray into laptop manufacturing. So a partnership with Intel will be crucial for them. Under this collaboration, Intel will share its expertise to help with the production of entry-level laptops in India. These will utilise state-of-the-art SMT lines. Intel will also help set up a quality control process for components and also help with benchmarking of finished products. Aside from this, the brand also provided support to ODMs spanning both Semi Knocked Down (SKD) and Completely Knocked Down (CKD) processes.

Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship voiced his approval of the collaboration between Intel and Indian companies. He noted that this was in line with Prime Minister, Narendra Modi's vision to drive India's Digital Economy to $1 Trillion and enable the electronics manufacturing ecosystem to contribute $300 billion by 2025-26. "It is our Prime Minister's determined goal that the Indian Electronics Ecosystem should have deep and broad capabilities and that Indian Electronics Manufacturing Companies should grow, scale, and expand their footprint as trusted players in the Electronics Global Value Chains," he stated.
Intel will also be hosting the India Tech Ecosystem Summit later in November during which local manufacturers will present a much larger portfolio of devices that are made in India. As mentioned earlier, the companies will currently offer entry-level devices, but they should soon eventually upgrade to more premium products once the foundation is laid out.
