iPhone 17 Pro chipset details

As per a report by DigiTimes, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is likely set to start small-scale production of its “N2” 2nm processors by the end of 2024, with mass production expected to follow in 2025.

Reports say that TSMC had announced plans to start mass-producing 2nm chips by 2025. Following this announcement, it was reported that the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro would be among the first devices to feature these new processors.

Meanwhile, the chipmaker is reportedly progressing towards manufacturing 1.4nm processors. Internally, Apple likely refers to this upcoming processor as the “A14,” which shouldn’t be confused with the A14 chip used in the iPhone 12 series from 2020.

Additionally, TSMC is working on an upgraded version of its 2nm processor, labeled as “N2P.” This enhanced chip is anticipated to be ready by the end of 2026, possibly intended for use in the iPhone 19.

iPhone 17 series rumoured details

As per some recent reports, the vanilla 2025 iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Plus might feature LTPO OLED panels which will boast a 120Hz refresh rate. Also, these displays are expected to bring an always-on-display (AoD) feature to the non-Pro models with LTPO technology.

On the other hand, the outer glass of the iPhone 17 series will reportedly incorporate a highly durable AR layer. Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Pro Max is expected to come with a 48MP telephoto lens. It is said that this telephoto lens might be optimised for compatibility with the company’s recently announced Vision Pro headset.
