iQOO has confirmed the launch of a new gaming tablet alongside its flagship smartphone, the iQOO 16. The iQOO Pad Ultra is being positioned as a new kind of e-sports tablet with dedicated features and hardware for gaming. It’s a compact tablet with the idea of offering something in between a smartphone and a traditional tablet, which iQOO believes will provide the perfect form factor for a gaming enthusiast.
iQOO Pad Ultra: what to expect
The iQOO Pad Ultra will feature a compact 8.8-inch display in a lightweight 298g body, and it will measure 5.74mm thick, giving it a slim form factor too. The reason behind the compact design, as iQOO says, is to achieve the perfect balance for a gaming device. It argued that while a smartphone is portable enough, its small screen size has limitations. Whereas a traditional tablet offers a larger screen but it’s not comfortable to hold and play games on it.
That’s where the 8.8-inch compact size comes in and provides a comfortable form factor. This 8.8-inch form factor could be a game-changer for mobile e-sports, offering a sweet spot many have been craving.
The iQOO Pad Ultra is said to run on the same flagship chip and self-developed e-sports chip as the iQOO 16. While this hasn’t been officially revealed, the Pad Ultra could use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset, as seen on a recent Geekbench listing. This is an upcoming flagship chipset from Qualcomm expected to launch soon. iQOO has also equipped the Pad Ultra with the largest active cooling fan for heat dissipation along with dual X-axis linear motors and refined speakers for the ultimate gaming experience.
The tablet will also come with a stretchable game controller and a back grip to make holding it more comfortable during extended gaming sessions. It might also get a 9,000mAh battery.
Based on what has been revealed so far, the iQOO Pad Ultra should appeal to serious gamers who want a dedicated tablet for gaming. Since it has flagship hardware, the Pad Ultra would also be ideal for intensive tasks. Its compact form factor also gives it an advantage as users who like reading or studying might prefer it.
