With the Vivo X500 series and OPPO Find X10 series’ launch dates out, iQOO has now revealed when it will unveil its next flagship, the iQOO 16, in China. Along with the launch date, the brand has officially shared the design and three colourways the smartphone will be available in. Just yesterday, the Vivo sub-brand detailed the display specifics during a dedicated event.

iQOO 16 to debut in China in the last week of September, colour variants revealed
The iQOO 16 China launch is set for September 29th. Interestingly, buyers who want to experience the phone quickly can purchase it immediately after the launch event. While the company has previously teased the iQOO 16’s design, it has now revealed all the colourways: Chasing Light with shifting light effects, Legend with a light-shade back panel, and Track, a dark grey shade with a matte finish.
iQOO 16 specifications: what we know so far
Beyond bleeding-edge gaming and performance, the company is placing a lot of emphasis on the iQOO 16’s display. It combines a 2K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate, making it the first smartphone in the world to do so. While the iQOO 15 also sported a 2K panel, that high resolution makes images and text look sharper, while the 165Hz refresh rate lets the phone push higher frame rates in games. Higher refresh rates also let brands market the phone around bigger numbers, which tend to attract attention in an industry with intense competition.
The panel is developed jointly with Samsung Display using Samsung’s M16 luminescent OLED material and new 2K LEAD 2.0 technology. The display will support 1,100 nits of manual peak brightness, 2,800 nits of global peak brightness and up to 10,000 nits of local peak brightness. These numbers should keep content bright enough even in challenging situations, such as under direct sunlight.
As for other specifications, the iQOO 16 is likely to be powered by Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship Snapdragon chipsets, set to launch on September 22nd during the Snapdragon Summit. One can expect the phone to feature multiple cooling systems, such as a large vapour chamber, to ensure minimal to no thermal throttling when the device is pushed to its limits during gaming.
For cameras, it may deploy triple 50MP rear cameras, including a telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, just like the iQOO 15. It may house an around 8,500mAh battery with up to 100W fast charging. Notably, the iQOO 16 will ship with OriginOS 7 out of the box, which includes multiple design refinements and performance improvements.
While we still don’t know the iQOO 16’s processor details, history suggests iQOO flagships are tuned to deliver high-end performance across tasks, whether gaming, video editing, or intensive multitasking.
