Jio 5G services now available in Kochi; Manipur is the first northeast state to get 5G

Reliance Jio has rolled out 5G standalone services for consumers in Kochi, Kerala. This makes it the first city in the state to get 5G network services. The company will be offering its ‘Welcome Offer’ to its customers in Kochi, where they will be getting unlimited data at no extra cost. The telecom will not be charging anything from the customer until the network is widely available and 5G plans are announced. It should be noted that Jio will be sending out invites randomly to customers and everyone might not be eligible.

Separately, 5G network services have been launched in Manipur, which makes it the first state in the northeast to get the latest network services. Chief Minister N Biren Singh launched these services in Imphal at the cabinet hall of the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.

Jio 5G services in Kochi

Jio 5G services have been launched in Kochi city and Guruvayur Temple premises. The launch event was graced by the Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan. Mr Vijayan said, “I am happy to launch Jio’s True 5G services in Kerala. 5G services, in the long run, will bring transformational benefits for the people of Kerala.

Reliance-backed Jio said that it will bring 5G services to customers in more parts of Kerala soon. In January 2023, Jio will bring 5G services for customers in Kozhikode, Malappuram, and Thrissur. Furthermore, the Minister said that Thiruvananthapuram would see 5G from Jio by the end of this month. By December 2023, all of Kerala would get 5G coverage.

Vijayan added, “Jio has invested over Rs.6000 crores for deploying the 5G network in Kerala and this shows their commitment towards our State. They will be launching 5G services in Trivandrum by end of this month followed by Thrissur, Kozhikode, and Malappuram by January 2023. By December 2023 every tehsil and taluk of Kerala will have Jio’s 5G services.”

Manipur-5G

As for the 5G network services in Manipur, the state CM, said “The launching of 5G will improve the lives of the common man, raise the living standard of the people of Manipur and will also create much-needed employment opportunities as well as generating revenue for the state.” The state chief secretary, Dr Rajesh Kumar expressed confidence that in the next six months, the recognised villages in the state will have at least a 4G connection and will make Manipur the best in the northeast region.

Rajnish Verma, CEO Bharti Airtel, Assam and Northeast, said that Airtel is the first operator to launch 5G services in the northeast region of the country.
