Jio and Airtel, India's two largest telecom networks also rival each other in the broadband segment. Recently, both brands introduced fixed wireless access (FWA) powered by a 5G network -Airtel Xstream AirFiber and Jio AirFiber. Unlike traditional broadband connection, where the router is fixed in a permanent location with a LAN cable, this new technology is slightly portable in nature and can be placed in any location at home, given you have a decent network reception. Xstream AirFiber is a plug-and-play home internet device. The device has Wi-Fi 6 technology support and will offer wide indoor coverage. Unlike Airtel Xstream AirFiber which is only available in Mumbai and Delhi, Jio is available in more than 8 cities across the country. Since the tech is based on a 5G network, the network speeds should be decent for the moment but once 5G becomes mainstream, we need to see how the speeds will be maintained. Jio has more plans in comparison to Airtel and this is a huge advantage to tap every price segment.
