Moto G Max debuts with 200MP camera, Dimensity 7400 SoC, and 5,000 nits display
Motorola has expanded its mid-range portfolio in Brazil with the launch of the Moto G Max. The new Motorola smartphone offers a large display, a Dimensity 7400 chipset, a powerful 200MP camera, and three IP ratings for durability. Motorola’s G series caters to the budget segment in India, and the Moto G Max is expected to debut as Moto G87 here and in other markets.
Moto G Max specifications
The Moto G Max features a large 6.8-inch 1.5K (1272 x 2772 pixels) AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Motorola claims a peak brightness of up to 5,000 nits, which would place it among the brightest displays in its class, significantly improving outdoor visibility. Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protects the panel and can dynamically adjust its refresh rate to strike a balance between smooth animations and battery efficiency.

Under the hood, the Moto G Max is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 chipset, paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. Users can also take advantage of Motorola’s RAM Boost feature, which virtually expands memory by up to 16GB using storage allocation. This combination should help deliver capable performance for regular to moderate tasks.
The Moto G Max features a 200MP primary camera with OIS, accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide sensor offering a 120-degree field of view. On the front, it houses a 32MP selfie camera with video recording at up to 2K resolution at 30fps. While the camera setup may not be versatile, the 200MP primary sensor is quite rare in this segment. This should give the Moto G Max an edge over most rivals similarly priced.
The handset packs a 5,200mAh battery with 33W TurboPower charging support. Motorola claims up to 35 hours of usage on a single charge, which means it can go longer for a day. This claim can, however, only be determined through real-world usage. Also, the 5,200mAh capacity seems modest at a time when most brands are offering 7,000mAh.
For durability, the Moto G Max carries IP66, IP68, and IP69 certifications alongside MIL-STD-810H compliance, which is also rare in this segment. On the software front, the Moto G Max runs Android 16 with Hello UI out of the box.
In Brazil, Motorola has priced the Moto G Max at BRL 2,519.10, roughly translating to around Rs 46,893. It is offered in Azul Carlo (Blue) and Grafite finishes. If your priorities include a bright AMOLED display, good cameras, clean software, excellent durability credentials, and dependable everyday performance, Motorola’s latest offering makes a compelling case. However, those seeking maximum gaming performance or a bigger battery may find better value elsewhere.
