Motorola launches Moto G87, highlights biggest camera upgrade in G-series
Motorola has launched a slew of smartphones, including three new foldables (the Razr 70 lineup) and a few G-series phones as well. The Moto G87 has been showing up in leaks recently and is now official. It’s also the best camera phone in Motorola’s G-series yet, offering a 200MP primary camera. Motorola’s G-series has usually catered to the budget segment, sitting below the Edge series and above the E-series. The Moto G87 shows the brand is getting more serious about this lineup, with cameras in focus.

The smartphone houses a 200MP primary camera with OIS and 2x lossless zoom support. This means that you will be able to take distant shots with the Moto G87, although the details may not be as precise as optical quality. Motorola says the phone’s ‘Ultra Pixel’ technology can deliver crystal clear results with 16x great light sensitivity for bright and vivid shots. As for the rest of its specifications, the Moto G87 features a 6.78-inch Extreme AMOLED 1.5K display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 5,000 nits peak brightness, and Gorilla Glass 7i protection. The smartphone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 chipset with up to 12GB of RAM. This should be good enough for regular tasks and everyday use. The Moto G87 has a 5,200mAh battery with 30W wired charging support. This battery capacity might seem modest among new phones, which offer at least 7,000mAh and much faster charging.
The Moto G87 comes with IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance. The handset is also MIL-STD-810H certified for durability, and is said to withstand falls from up to 1.2m.
