Shortly after it was tipped that Motorola would be launching the Edge 70 in India soon, the brand has now officially confirmed it. Motorola has a teaser page up on Flipkart for the Edge 70’s India launch. The brand has yet to announce the launch date, but it’s expected to take place this month. The smartphone was first launched as the Moto X70 Air, then as the Edge 70 in Europe. Its highlight is its thin design, measuring only 5.99mm. Motorola Edge 70 would also join the small but growing line of slim smartphones in India, including the Tecno Pova Slim, the iPhone Air, and the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge.
The Motorola Edge 70 microsite on Flipkart showcases the phone’s design but still leaves its key specifications undisclosed. That detail matters because it was earlier tipped that the Edge 70 could launch in India with a larger battery. For reference, the global Edge 70 packs a 4,800mAh battery, which is not only modest by today’s standards but also smaller than the 5,500mAh battery in the Edge 60. A capacity boost would work strongly in Motorola’s favour, especially against other slim mid-range phones, many of which now push battery sizes close to 7,000mAh.
The Indian variant of the Edge 70 is also tipped to cost under Rs 35,000. Although more affordable than the global variant, the Edge 70 would still be more expensive than its predecessor, the Edge 60, which launched in India at Rs 25,999. It’s usually the Pro model in the Edge series that is the most expensive. For instance, the Motorola Edge 60 Pro starts at Rs 29,999 in India. So it’s interesting to see how Motorola plans to price the Edge 70 in the country.
As for the rest of its specifications, the Motorola Edge 70 is expected to launch with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset, the same as the global variant. It could also house a 50MP primary sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, and a 50MP selfie camera. If Motorola proceeds with this setup, the Edge 70 would be missing a telephoto lens, which is available on the Edge 60. Up front, the Edge 70 is expected to feature a 6.7-inch 1.5K pOLED (2712 x 1220 pixels) display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 4,500 nits peak brightness. This is a flat display as opposed to the curved screen on the Edge 60.
It remains to be seen how the Edge 70 will stack up against rivals in its price segment and whether its slim design will offer a meaningful advantage. If you’re currently using the Edge 60, it’s worth holding off until full reviews drop, as there could be some trade-offs in the spec sheet. For anyone simply seeking a sleek, lightweight phone, however, the Edge 70 still has the potential to be a strong contender. More so, since it would be priced more affordably than the iPhone Air and Galaxy S25 Edge.
