Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ India launch tipped for May end: telephoto camera, wireless charging expected

Motorola appears ready to expand its Edge lineup in India with the rumoured Motorola Edge 70 Pro+, notably the first “Pro+” model in the series. The launch is expected by the end of May, and early details suggest it will focus on addressing some of the key gaps seen in the current Motorola Edge 70 Pro, which was recently launched in India at a starting price of Rs 38,999. The upcoming Edge 70 Pro+ could target the price segment under Rs 50,000, where Motorola currently doesn’t have any phone.

Motorola Edge 70 Pro+: what to expect

One of the most anticipated upgrades is the addition of a dedicated telephoto lens, something currently missing on the standard Pro model. This could significantly improve zoom photography, making the Pro+ more versatile for users who rely on camera flexibility.

Another notable addition is wireless charging, which would be a premium feature, and one that’s missing on the Edge 70 Pro. The Pro+ is also tipped to offer a 16GB RAM variant, catering to power users who want extra headroom for gaming and heavy multitasking.

In terms of design, Motorola seems to be leaning into premium aesthetics. The Edge 70 Pro+ is expected to launch in a Satin Wine Red finish, alongside a wood-textured variant—continuing the brand’s recent push for distinctive materials and Pantone-inspired colours.

The Edge 70 Pro already offers a well-packaged setup in the premium mid-range segment. It features a 6.8-inch Extreme AMOLED Super HD display with up to 144Hz adaptive refresh rate and 5,200 nits peak brightness. Under the hood, it runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Extreme chipset, paired with a large 6,500mAh battery and 90W fast wired charging. Cameras include a 50MP Sony LYT-710 main sensor, a 50MP ultrawide + macro lens, and a 50MP front camera.

The Edge 70 Pro remains a strong value pick if you want a large battery, bright display, and solid all-round performance at under Rs 40,000. But if pricing for the Pro+ stays competitive, the added telephoto lens, wireless charging, and higher RAM ceiling could make it a more future-proof option, especially for camera enthusiasts and heavy users.
