Nothing Headphone (a) moniker confirmed on IMDA, could debut soon after Phone (4a) series

Highlights
  • Nothing Headphone (a) is tipped to launch in March.
  • It could arrive as an affordable alternative to the Headphone (1).
  • The IMDA listing suggests an imminent launch.

Nothing Phone (4a) series is confirmed to launch globally and in India on March 5th. This is going to be Nothing’s key offerings this year, with no flagship smartphone coming out. In addition to the Phone (4a) lineup, Nothing is also expected to launch the Headphone (a), a new low-cost alternative to the Headphone (1). It’s tipped to launch in March, and that might just happen as the Headphone (a) has received Singapore’s IMDA certification, confirming its moniker as well.

The IMDA listing shows the Nothing Headphone (a) has been certified for a launch in Singapore. The moniker is also clearly mentioned confirmed what was already leaked, but this is the first ‘official’ mention of the device’s name, so that’s important. The listing otherwise doesn’t reveal anything else about the Headphone (a).

The Nothing Headphone (1) is tipped to arrive in multiple regions, including Europe and other global markets, most likely India too. It may be offered in four colour options: Black, Pink, White, and Yellow. This has created quite a buzz about Nothing offering bright colours other than its usual palette.

The Headphone (a) is expected to offer a similar transparent design, possibly with some differences. Pricing will be key here since the device will be an affordable alternative to the Headphone (1). The Headphone (a) is tipped to cost EUR 159 (Rs 17,000 approx) in Europe and GBP 149 in the UK, almost half the launch price of the Nothing Headphone (1), which debuted at EUR 299 (Rs 32,000 approx).

In India, the Headphone (1) was launched for Rs 21,999, so the Headphone (a) could be priced around Rs 15,000. This would make it a good option for anyone who wanted the Headphone (1) but didn’t want to pay that much.

There’s no word on the Headphone (a) yet, but with several appearances online, its launch might be getting closer. It could also launch alongside the Phone (4a) series or shortly after. If you’ve been eyeing the Headphone (1) but price was a barrier, the Headphone (a) could be worth waiting for. However, if premium features and top-tier sound are paramount, you might consider the original or other high-end alternatives.
