Nothing Phone (3a) Lite confirmed to launch in India in two colour options
Nothing has shared a teaser on X, confirming the India launch of its latest smartphone, the Phone (3a) Lite, which debuted globally last month. The exact India launch date has not been revealed, but the teaser image confirms that the phone will come in Black and White colour options, similar to its global variant. A caption accompanying the post reads, “Lite-ning is always accompanied by something more,” hinting that the device could arrive with launch offers or bundled accessories.

The Phone (3a) Lite launched globally in October as the company’s first-ever “Lite” edition and the most affordable phone yet in its portfolio (barring CMF phones). A lot of its design language is taken from its siblings, the Phone (3a) and the Phone (3a) Pro, but the features are simplified make it more accessible. Globally, the phone starts at GBP 249 (Around Rs 28,000), but considering the Rs 24,999 price tag of the Nothing Phone (3a) in India, we expect the Lite variant to sit a tad lower, probably around Rs 20,000 – Rs 22,000.

Design-wise, the Phone (3a) Lite retains Nothing’s unique language but with some changes. Instead of the full Glyph Matrix on the flagship Nothing Phone (3), the Lite variant has a single Glyph Light at the bottom corner on the back panel. It retains the glass finish and a symmetrical frame, but with a more minimalistic appeal.
The Nothing Phone (3a) Lite has a 6.77-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz, HDR10+, and 3000 nits peak brightness, protected by Panda Glass. Under the hood, it has a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro chipset combined with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB UFS 2.2 storage, which is expandable via microSD. The device packs a 5,000mAh battery with 33W charging, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance.
On the camera front, the Phone (3a) Lite flaunts a 50MP EIS main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide, and a 2MP macro sensor. At the front, there is a 16MP selfie snapper. The camera features 4K video recording at 30fps, and support for 10x digital zoom.
The device boots up with Android 15, with Nothing OS 3.5 out of the box. The brand has confirmed it will get the Android 16-based Nothing OS 4.0 update in early 2026. The phone promises three years of OS updates and six years of security patches altogether, strengthening its appeal in its lower mid-range segment.
Interestingly, this is the first Nothing phone to come preloaded with apps like Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok (which will not be available in India), signalling a departure from the brand’s earlier bloat-free philosophy. While these can be uninstalled, their inclusion marks Nothing’s intent to target young users who use their daily drivers mainly for social media.
Entry into the sub-Rs 22,000 bracket will place Nothing in competition with the likes of iQOO’s Z-series, Realme’s P-series, and Vivo’s T-series, which rule this segment with feature-laden devices. Instead of directly competing on specifications, Nothing continues to differentiate through design, software, and a consistent visual identity across its lineup.
If you’re on a budget and Nothing prices the Phone (3a) Lite below Rs 22,000, it could be a very attractive option for those who want to enjoy a clean Android experience, unique design, and software support in the long run without breaking their wallet. The only notable trade-offs could be its relatively slower charging speed and the absence of the full Glyph Interface, though these look like reasonable compromises given the expected price.
