The launch follows recent comments from Nothing co-founder Akis Evangelidis, who explained the company’s revised naming strategy. According to him, numbers indicate product generations, while letters define product segments. He also confirmed that the a-series will continue as Nothing’s most premium lineup below its flagship phones, while the b-series is being introduced to target a different audience.

Nothing has already teased the Phone (4b), and a recently shared sketch video revealed parts of its design. It looks like the phone will retain the company’s signature transparent rear panel but may feature a single rear camera. While this hints at affordability, it may not sit well with buyers, as even budget phones offer a dual camera setup.

The new lineup arrives as Nothing streamlines its portfolio. Evangelidis also indicated that the “Lite” branding, first seen with the Phone 3a Lite, will be retired going forward.

While official specifications remain under wraps, the Phone (4b) will most likely sit below the Phone (4a) series, which starts at Rs 37,999 in India. The new model should arrive at a lower price point. However, buyers shouldn’t expect an ultra-budget device, as rising memory and component costs continue to push smartphone prices upward across the industry.

The upcoming Nothing Phone (4b) could become an interesting option if it brings Nothing’s distinctive design and clean software experience to a more accessible price segment. Those considering the Phone (4a) may want to wait a couple of weeks to see how much they would be saving by opting for the new b-series model.
