OnePlus 15R was officially teased at the OnePlus 15 launch, and now its global arrival has been confirmed. OnePlus 15R is coming to India too, with a dedicated page for the phone live on Amazon India. The teaser image shows a glimpse of the phone’s design and its colour options — black and green. This time, there’s an interesting buzz about the OnePlus 15R, and which phone’s rebrand it could be. Going by the previous generations, the OnePlus 15R would launch as the global version of the OnePlus Ace 6, which recently debuted in China. But there’s speculation that the upcoming OnePlus Ace 6T could be the 15R globally.
OnePlus Ace 6T is confirmed to launch in China this month. Its specifications haven’t been revealed yet, but OnePlus is teasing the devices as the “new choice for performance flagships.” This suggests that the OnePlus Ace 6T will be a performance-focused phone and could launch as the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 5-powered phone. This is an unannounced chipset tipped to power the Ace 6T. However, with the OnePlus 15R India launch already teased, and the Ace 6T yet to launch, it seems unlikely that they could be the same phone.
If so, the OnePlus 15R would launch as the Ace 6 in India. This rumour holds more ground as the OnePlus 13R arrived as the OnePlus Ace 5’s global variant, but with some changes in the camera and battery. The same could be followed for the 15R this time. In terms of specs, you can expect a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate and 5,000 nits peak brightness. The handset would be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset along with a dedicated G2 gaming chip to boost graphics performance.
OnePlus 15R could also boast four IP ratings — IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K, making it highly resistant to dust, water, and even high-pressure jets. It would get the Plus Key for quick actions like launching the camera, turning on the flashlight, or opening the AI Plus Mind Space. Its biggest upgrade would be the 7,800mAh battery, the largest ever on a phone yet, and that too paired with 120W fast charging. There’s still no wireless charging, but you’re getting the best setup here.
For cameras, it could be a dual rear camera setup with a 50MP primary sensor (OIS) and an 8MP ultra-wide lens at the back, and a 16MP selfie camera. The camera setup might not seem impressive as there’s no telephoto lens. The Indian variant could come with certain changes, so let’s hope it applies to the cameras.
All these details are based on speculation, but the OnePlus 15R is highly likely to focus on performance, making it an ideal choice for power users. It would also serve as a flagship alternative if pricing remains under Rs 50,000, similar to the 13R. Suppose you’re a power user considering an upgrade soon. In that case, it might be worth holding off until the official launch to see if these rumored specs and pricing hold, especially if you’re looking for a strong performance-to-price ratio.
