OnePlus recently launched the flagship OnePlus Pad 4 (review) tablet in India. It is now reportedly planning to introduce a compact tablet in India soon. OnePlus has a decent portfolio of tablets in India, catering to various price segments like the premium flagship and budget. With a compact tablet, OnePlus would be adding another option for buyers who prefer a smaller-screened tablet. Here’s what has been tipped so far.
OnePlus compact tablet tipped
OnePlus is reportedly planning to launch a new compact tablet with an 8.8-inch OLED tablet with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, according to tipster Debayan on X. This tablet is said to launch in India in Q3, which means between July and September. The launch will be interesting as OnePlus doesn’t offer a compact tablet yet, and the closest to compact that it offers is available on the OnePlus Pad Lite with an 11-inch display.

The tipster added that OPPO is also expected to launch a tablet in India towards the end of Q2 or in Q3. This tablet will be similar to OnePlus’s but with a different chipset.
Based on the leaked details, it’s likely that the compact OnePlus tablet could be a rebrand of the OPPO Pad Mini, which launched in China this April. The screen size and chipset are the same, if the leak turns out to be accurate. It won’t be surprising, though, if OnePlus does launch an OPPO rebranded tablet, as the strategy is common among the two brands.
If so, here’s what to expect from the rumoured OnePlus compact tablet:
- 8.8-inch 2.5K OLED screen, 144Hz refresh rate
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC
- 8,000mAh battery, 67W fast charging
- 13MP rear, 8MP front camera
The OPPO Pad Mini stands out not just for its compact design, but also for its capable hardware as well. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 makes it a powerful tablet with flagship-grade performance. The display, too, although compact, is a 2.5K OLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate, which is rare among tablets. The 8,000mAh battery is a sizeable capacity considering the tablet’s overall size.
If OnePlus does end up launching a compact tablet with these specifications, it would compete directly with Apple’s iPad Mini, which has an 8.3-inch display. This would make the OnePlus tablet a good Android alternative to the iPad Mini for people who want a compact tablet, preferably for reading, consuming content, and casual usage. The powerful chipset also makes it a capable mid-ranger. Although there’s no official confirmation yet, it might be a good idea to wait if you’ve been wanting to buy a compact tablet.
