OnePlus Nord 6 specifications

The Nord 6 is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, a 4nm chip with a 1+3+4 core architecture, a Cortex-X5 prime core clocked at up to 3.2 GHz, and the Adreno 825 GPU, paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.1 storage. OnePlus claims an AnTuTu score of over 2.5 million, a significant jump from the Nord 5’s 1.4 million. The chip is further supported by flagship-grade graphene cooling and OnePlus’ own OxygenOS 16 CPU Scheduler to sustain performance over long sessions.

The display is a 6.78-inch 165Hz 1.5K AMOLED, the same panel as on the OnePlus 15, with a resolution of 2772 x 1272, 450 ppi, and a 93.5% screen-to-body ratio. Brightness peaks at 3600 nits at the individual pixel level, with 1800 nits in HDR mode. For night use, the display dims to 2 nits with 3840Hz PWM dimming to reduce flicker and eye strain. Aqua Touch 2.0 keeps the display responsive even with wet or greasy fingers. The display is protected by OnePlus’ Crystal Guard Glass, which the brand claims offers drop resistance comparable to Gorilla Glass Victus+.

OnePlus is promising sustained 165 fps gaming on BGMI, Call of Duty Mobile, and Free Fire Max, backed by a dedicated Touch Reflex Chip enabling 3200Hz touch sampling, a 6-axis gyroscope rated at ±4000 DPS for drift-free aiming, and a Spatial Audio Booster for directional sound awareness in games.

Battery is the headline feature. The Nord 6 packs a 9,000mAh silicon-carbon cell, up from the Nord 5’s 6,800mAh, all within an 8.5mm profile and 217 grams. OnePlus claims 2.5+ days of moderate usage, translating to over 26 hours of YouTube streaming, around 16 hours of Google Maps navigation, and 6.3 hours of 4K video recording on a single charge. Charging is rated at 80W SUPERVOOC, with a full charge taking approximately 70 minutes, as per OnePlus.

New this year is 27W wired reverse charging, a marked upgrade over the 5W speed offered by the Nord 5. This lets the Nord 6 act as a power bank for earbuds, smartwatches, or other phones. Bypass Charging has also been expanded beyond gaming to cover 4K recording, video calls, and other high-load scenarios, reducing heat and battery cycle wear.

On cameras, the Nord 6 gets a 50MP Sony LYTIA-600 primary sensor (1/1.953-inch) with dual-axis OIS and EIS at f/1.8, an 8MP OmniVision OV08F ultrawide at f/2.2 with a 112-degree field of view, and a 32MP front camera. Video goes up to 4K at 60fps. AI editing tools include Portrait Glow, Eraser, Unblur, and Perfect Shot.

Durability has been substantially upgraded with IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings, and MIL-STD-810H certification covering 25 consecutive free-fall drops from 1.5 metres onto a steel surface. For reference, the OnePlus Nord 5 has an IP65 rating. The front is covered by Crystal Guard Glass, and the box includes a pre-applied screen protector and protective case. The frame and back are polycarbonate rather than a metal-and-glass combo, likely to keep the phone’s price competitive.

The phone runs OxygenOS 16 based on Android 16, with four major OS updates and six years of security patches promised. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, NFC, 5G Advanced support via Reliance Jio, the G2 Wi-Fi chip for congested environments, NavIC positioning, and an IR blaster. Audio is handled by dual stereo speakers with a 300% Super Audio mode and OReality Audio support. There’s also a physical Plus Key for triggering Mind Space and AI features on the fly. No eSIM support.

The Nord 6 is available in Holographic Quick Silver, Fresh Mint, and Pitch Black.

Our take

Based on my early impressions, the OnePlus Nord 6 is a confident step up from the Nord 5 in almost every measurable way. It gets a bigger battery, faster chip, better display, and meaningfully improved durability. At Rs 39,999, it’s a price hike over its predecessor, but one that’s hard to argue with on paper. The 9,000mAh battery and 165 fps gaming support are genuine differentiators in this segment.

The camera system and real-world sustained performance are the two areas I’ll be scrutinising closely in my full review. If OnePlus has fixed the Nord 5’s inconsistent camera output and managed thermals well through extended gaming sessions, the Nord 6 could be the most well-rounded phone in its price bracket this year. Watch this space.
