We’ve been hearing rumours about Oneplus’ upcoming Turbo phone in China, and they sound promising to say the least. However, the more interesting part now is that India may also get a pice of the pie as the tipped OnePlus Turbo 7 could debut in India as the next Nord-series phone. The upcoming Turbo 7 is said to bring a Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 chipset, a 200MP primary camera and a battery close to 10,000mAh. If these details hold, it would be a substantial upgrade over the current Nord 6, particularly in camera resolution and processing power.
According to tipster Gadgetsdata, the OnePlus Turbo 7 could feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 6, UFS 4.1 storage and a 200MP primary camera with OIS, accompanied by an ultrawide camera. It’s also tipped to run Android 17 and feature a 1.5K flat OLED display with a refresh rate of up to 185Hz. The global version could get a lower 165Hz refresh rate, while the battery is reportedly around 10,000mAh.
Earlier, tipster Smart Pikachu also claimed that the Turbo 7 would feature a 200MP main camera, a glass back and a 185Hz display. The reports, however, didn’t establish whether these specifications belong to the standard Turbo 7 or a Pro variant. A previous Digital Chat Station leak mentioned a Turbo Pro with a 6.78-inch 1.5K 185Hz display, a 200MP camera and a battery of at least 9,000mAh. These could be references to the same device, but that remains unclear. The phone is also tipped to skip a periscope camera, suggesting that gaming and performance could remain its primary focus.
The OnePlus Turbo 7 could bring sizeable upgrades over the Turbo 6, which launched in China with a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, a 6.78-inch 165Hz display, a 50MP main camera and a 9,000mAh battery. The Nord 6, which launched in India at Rs 38,999, also uses the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 and offers a 9,000mAh battery, 80W charging and a 50MP Sony main camera with OIS.
The Turbo 7’s reported 200MP camera and newer chipset could make it a stronger proposition, although the actual camera performance will depend on the sensor and image processing, not just resolution. Its potential rival is the iQOO Z12 Turbo, which is also tipped to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 and could arrive globally as the iQOO 16R.
There is no confirmed launch timeline or India pricing yet. Buyers considering the Nord series shouldn’t wait solely for the 200MP camera claim, but those prioritising gaming performance and battery life may want to see how the Turbo 7 turns out once OnePlus confirms its specifications.
