OPPO Find N2 Flip vs Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4

Design

The OPPO Find N2 Flip is one of the newest foldable smartphones from the Chinese phone maker, and its first one with a “flip” form factor. It has a main screen inside while a smaller 3.26-inch cover screen on the flip gives you access to quick actions like notifications, taking calls, checking health parameters, and more. On the back of the smartphone is a Hasselblad-certified dual camera setup, which acts as a dual selfie camera when the phone is folded. Unfolded the smartphone is decently thin at 7.45mm alongside a weight of 191 grams. Plus, there is a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, so unlocking the smartphone is easy when folded or otherwise.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 is the fourth generation in the series that brought back the flip form factor on mobile phones. Much like the OPPO Find N2 Flip, this one too has a larger main screen, a small cover screen, and a durable hinge made to change form factor on will. However, the cover screen is smaller than the one on the OPPO, at 1.9 inches. On the back of the smartphone, here too, is a dual camera setup that doubles up as a superb selfie camera when taking photos with the phone folded.

Display

The OPPO Find N2 Flip sports a large 6.8-inch fHD+ AMOLED panel on the inside with a resolution of 1080×2520 pixels, 1600 nits of brightness, 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, and 403ppi pixel density. On the outside, the cover screen has a 3.26-inch display with a 382×720 resolution, 60Hz refresh rate, and pixel density of 250ppi. While the internal display is a flagship-grade one with top-of-the-line features, the cover screen is largely a compromise given the form factor.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4, on the other hand, features a slightly smaller 6.7-inch fHD+ “Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex” display with a resolution of 1080×2640 pixels, 120Hz refresh rate, and a 22:9 aspect ratio. The display is the same size as the predecessor. On the front, there is a much smaller 1.9-inch Super AMOLED panel with a resolution of 260×512, which again is lower than that on the cover screen of the Find N2 Flip.

Processor, RAM and storage

As for processor, the OPPO Find N2 Flip has a flagship octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 9000+, which has been paired with 8GB of RAM and a Mali G710 MC10 GPU. In terms of storage, the sole variant of the smartphone carries 256GB of internal storage, which should be enough for most of the data you want to store on it.

On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 gets the flagship-grade SoC from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. This 4nm octa-core processor is paired with 8GB of RAM, which is comparable to that of the OPPO smartphone. As for storage, the smartphone comes with two options – 128GB and 256GB – depending on the user’s needs. However, it is important to note, that the retail price of the Galaxy Z Flip4’s 128GB storage variant is the same as the 256GB model of the OPPO Find N2 Flip.

Cameras

Talking about cameras, both smartphones have dual camera setups. The OPPO Find N2 Flip has a primary 50MP Sony IMX890 sensor, with an f/1.8 aperture lens, and an 8MP ultrawide sensor, with f/2.2 aperture, accompanying it. This setup can be used for selfies when the phone is folded. However, on the inside, you also get a 32MP selfie Sony IMX709 RGBW camera sensor for when you want to take selfies and video calls.

As for camera specifications on the Galaxy Z Flip4, the Samsung smartphone features something similar to what was seen on the Galaxy Z Flip3. It gets a 12MP ultrawide sensor with an f/2.2 lens and a 12MP wide-angle sensor with an f/1.8 lens and OIS at the back, which becomes a selfie camera setup when folded. On the inside, there is an additional 10MP selfie camera that provides an 80-degree field of view.

Connectivity

As for connectivity options, both smartphones are premium offerings from their respective brands and thus feature top-of-the-line connectivity features. On the OPPO Find N2 Flip, you get Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, 5G, 4G LTE, GPS/ A-GPS, and a USB Type-C port for charging. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack for audio connectivity. In terms of prominent sensors, you get a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, an under-screen colour temperature sensor, and an under-screen ambient light sensor, made for an optimised user experience.

The Samsung too has similar features, but it gets Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 802.11 that are different from the OPPO phone. The Galaxy Z Flip4 also has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for biometrics.

Battery

There is a new-gen dual-cell 4,300mAh battery on the OPPO Find N2 Flip, which comes with support for 44W SuperVOOC charging. However, strangely, the smartphone is said to ship with an 80W fast charger out of the box. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 comes with a smaller 3,700mAh battery with support for slower 25W fast charging. Samsung claims the battery can charge 50% in just 30 minutes.
