OPPO may not follow the same chipset strategy with its next Ultra flagship as it did with the current model. The OPPO Find X9 Ultra launched with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, but its successor, the OPPO Find X10 Ultra, is reportedly being tested with MediaTek’s upcoming Dimensity 9600 Pro as well. OPPO hasn’t made a final decision yet, with a Snapdragon-powered version also in development. The chipset choice could have implications for how the Find X10 Ultra compares with the Find X10 Pro Max, which is also expected to use MediaTek silicon.
Tipster Smart Pikachu on Weibo claims OPPO is testing a Find X10 Ultra variant powered by the Dimensity 9600 Pro, paired with customised imaging algorithms. These are reportedly being developed for the company’s Lumo True Image Engine. In replies to the post, the tipster added that a Snapdragon version is also being tested, presumably with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. The Qualcomm variant is said to be more likely to make the final cut, so a switch to MediaTek is far from confirmed.
If OPPO chooses the Dimensity chip, the Find X10 Ultra and Find X10 Pro Max could share the same processor, leaving their camera systems as a major point of difference. This would be a departure from the Find X9 Ultra’s use of Qualcomm’s flagship silicon. For buyers comparing premium phones, the final chipset choice will matter for gaming and sustained performance, but the customised imaging algorithms suggest OPPO is also working to maintain its camera experience across platforms.
The OPPO Find X10 Ultra’s camera setup had leaked earlier this week. It’s said to feature a 200MP primary camera with a 1/1.12-inch sensor and LOFIC technology, which is designed to preserve detail in bright highlights and shadows. The setup could also include a 200MP periscope telephoto camera, a 50MP periscope lens with 10x optical zoom and a 200MP Samsung HP5 ultrawide camera. A 100MP front camera is also under consideration. OPPO is reportedly evaluating different sensors for the 50MP periscope camera, and production constraints could affect the final choice.
For context, the Find X9 Ultra launched in India at Rs 1,69,999 with a 200MP Sony main camera, a 200MP 3x telephoto, a 50MP 10x periscope, a 50MP ultrawide and a monochrome sensor. The reported upgrades suggest OPPO will retain its multi-camera approach while making changes to sensor hardware and image processing.
Other reported specifications include a 6.89-inch 2K BOE display with a 144Hz refresh rate and an 8,500mAh battery. Digital Chat Station is the source of the display information; the battery and chipset details remain unconfirmed. The Find X10 Ultra is expected to launch in China in the first half of 2027.
The Find X9 Ultra was OPPO’s first Ultra model to launch in India and other global markets, but an Indian release for its successor isn’t confirmed yet. Those considering the current model need not delay a purchase solely because of these leaks. The X9 Ultra already offers a versatile camera system, while the X10 Ultra’s final specifications, price and availability are still some months away.
