OnePlus releases stable ColorOS 17 update for OnePlus 13 series, 15R and Pad 4 ahead of schedule

Highlights
  • ColorOS 17 brings Living Flow Design, new Live Alerts UI, and several AI features.
  • The update is being pushed to said devices two to three days earlier than scheduled.
  • Users can check for the update manually through Release candidate.

Following the ColorOS 17 update release for the OnePlus 15 (and OPPO Find X9 series) a few days ago, the stable update has now arrived ahead of schedule on multiple high-end OnePlus devices. These include the OnePlus 15R, OnePlus 13, OnePlus 13s, and OnePlus Pad 4. As noted in our dedicated ColorOS 17 hands-on story, the update brings the Living Flow Design UI architecture, with seamless transitions, luminous effects, and notable AI features.

ColorOS 17 stable update rolls out for multiple OnePlus devices

Per OnePlus’s official ColorOS 17 rollout schedule, published when it was globally unveiled on October 13th, the OnePlus 15R, OnePlus 13, OnePlus 13s, and OnePlus Pad 4 were set to receive the update starting October 29th. However, a series of posts on OnePlus Community by the Head of OS Operations confirms that the firmware is already being pushed out a few days early.

Users of these devices can check for and download the update by going to Settings> System & update > Download & Install once the ColorOS 17 update appears. However, if the update doesn’t show up, on the Software update page, tap the ‘three-dot’ menu at the top right corner and select Beta program. On the next page, select the Update button under the Release candidate banner. This manually fetches the update from the server and reduces the wait time for the update to arrive via OTA.

Should you update to ColorOS 17?

Based on our experience with the OnePlus 15, ColorOS 17 is a clear upgrade if you value a smoother, more refined software experience. The new Living Flow Design brings highly responsive, bouncy animations, luminous effects, and expanded progressive blur across the UI. Transitions feel seamless, and the overall fluidity is the best among current-gen Android skins.

The AI improvements are another strong reason to update. AI Mind Pilot’s Agent Mode can actually perform tasks like organising files, creating collages, or extracting information from documents, while the new OSee app and smarter Mind Space add practical everyday usefulness. Visual details such as the revamped Live Alerts and expanded media player also look significantly more polished.

The only notable downside is that long-time OnePlus users will miss distinct app icons and several “Never Settle” easter eggs. Beyond that, ColorOS 17 is a major leap forward in smoothness, productivity, and AI functionality.

If you’re wondering when other OnePlus devices, or even OPPO and Realme devices, will receive the ColorOS 17 update, feel free to check out the rollout schedule here.
