OPPO has refreshed its popular Reno 16 lineup in India with the launch of two phones: Reno 16 and Reno 16c. The new models arrive six months after the Reno 15 series, which launched in India earlier this year, in January. The Reno 16 series brings a refreshed design, under-the-hood upgrades, new AI features, and more. The Reno 16c is a major upgrade over the Reno 15c, with a telephoto camera.
Here’s a detailed look at everything new with OPPO.
The OPPO Reno 16 price in India starts at Rs 61,999 for the base variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. The Reno 16c has been launched at a starting price of Rs 46,999. As for the OPPO Bubble accessory, it will be available at Rs 7,999 and will go on sale from July 9th. All three products can be purchased through the OPPO Store, Flipkart, and Amazon.
| Variant | OPPO Reno 16 price | OPPO Reno 16c price |
| 8GB + 128GB | Rs 61,999 | Rs 46,999 |
| 8GB + 256GB | NA | Rs 49,999 |
| 12GB + 256GB | Rs 67,999 | Rs 55,999 |
The OPPO Reno 16 has a compact 6.32-inch (2640 x 1216 pixels) FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 3,600 nits of peak brightness. The compact screen makes the Reno 16 comfortable to hold and use. It should appeal to people who prefer a smaller phone. The handset is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset paired with 8GB/12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage, which is the same as the Reno 15, meaning you’ll most likely experience similar performance.
The handset packs a sizeable 6,700mAh battery with 80W SUPERVOOC fast charging support. This is just 200mAh bigger than the Reno 15’s battery capacity. Although not a major upgrade, the Reno 16 should comfortably last an entire day.
Cameras are where the Reno 16 shines, with a 50MP setup on the back and front. You get a 50MP Sony LYT-600 primary sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 50MP Samsung JN5 telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom. There’s a 50MP front camera for selfies on the Reno 16. This is a versatile camera setup, especially the telephoto lens for advanced zoom and long-distance photography. OPPO has also added features such as ‘Dual Flash System’ for brighter shots in low-light conditions, AI Remix Collage, Pop Cam, Popout 2.0, and Dual-View Video 2.0.
The Reno 16c has a larger 6.57-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1,400 high brightness mode. The smartphone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset. We should know more about its performance through its review. The Reno 16c also has a larger 7,000mAh battery with 80W SUPERVOOC charging support, which should deliver over a day’s power with regular usage.
Even with the Reno 16c, you get a versatile camera setup, including a 50MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide, and a 50MP telephoto with 3.5x optical zoom. This is an upgrade over the Reno 15c, which lacked a telephoto lens. This should give the Reno 16c an advantage in zoom photography over rivals.
Both the Reno 16 and Reno 16c come with IP66/IP68/IP69/IP69K certifications for dust and water resistance. On the software front, the Reno 16 series runs ColorOS 16.1 with Android 16 out of the box with new features. Key additions include the AI Snap Key and Mind Space, which instantly clip and organise on-screen content into a memory hub, and Mind Pilot, a unified assistant that combines Gemini, Perplexity, and ChatGPT for optimized query responses. The AI Snap Key is a physical button on the Reno 16, similar to the Plus Key on OnePlus phones.
Additionally, AI Bill Manager automatically logs and categorises expenses from receipts or voice notes using real-time currency conversion, while supplementary tools handle menu translation, voice translation, recording stickers, and scanning.
The OPPO Bubble is a cute and fun accessory that attaches to the back of the Reno 16 with a magnetic sticker. It’s basically an additional display that works as a viewfinder for the Reno 16’s cameras. This lets you take selfies with the Reno 16’s rear cameras. You can also set wallpapers and interactive pets on the display for additional customisation. In terms of specs, the OPPO Bubble has a 1.73-inch AMOLED screen with 600 nits brightness level, a 560mAh battery, and an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance.
Based on the specifications and pricing, the Reno 16 is recommended to those who want a compact smartphone with flagship-style cameras, dependable performance, sizeable battery, and several AI features. The Reno 16c is the affordable alternative here with a slightly bigger display, still good cameras, and a large battery. But since the Reno 15 series is still fresh in the market, it would be advisable to compare and see if the upgrades are significant.
