PlayStation users’ accounts locked out

  • Several Sony PlayStation users went on social media platforms such as X (formerly Twitter) to express their experience of being unexpectedly locked out of their accounts.
  • The suspension messages popped up without any advance notice or clarification, causing users to speculate about potential security concerns or glitches in Sony’s network.
  • The precise count of affected users remains uncertain, but various discussions and reports on social media and online forums highlight the widespread nature of this issue.
  • However, some of the users mentioned that their Sony PlayStation account is now back.

Meanwhile, Sony has not issued an official statement regarding the situation. Details about the issue are notably absent from the company’s official PlayStation support page under “important notices.” Furthermore, there have been no official statements from the company on its PlayStation or Ask PlayStation social accounts on X. Also, Sony has not responded to inquiries seeking comments on the matter.

On the other hand, a London tribunal recently decided that Sony will face a significant lawsuit, estimated at up to £6.3 billion ($7.9 billion), equivalent to more than Rs 6,500 crore. The allegations center around claims that the PlayStation manufacturer abused its dominant position, leading to unjust prices for consumers.

In the previous year, a lawsuit was initiated against Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) on behalf of nearly 9 million individuals in the UK who had bought digital games or add-on content through Sony’s PlayStation Store.
