The POCO M8 5G has gone on sale in India today, and POCO’s using an interesting marketing strategy to grab eyeballs. The phone, which comes in under Rs 20,000, is available at a discounted price for a 12-hour launch window.
The POCO M8 5G is available at Rs 18,999 for the 6GB + 128GB version, Rs 19,999 for the 8GB + 128GB one, and Rs 21,999 for the top 8GB + 256GB model. You can pick it up in Carbon Black, Glacial Blue, or Frost Silver colours, and it’s gone on sale on Flipkart. For today’s first sale on January 13th, there’s a 12-hour launch deal that reduces prices. The base variant drops to Rs 15,999, the mid one to Rs 16,999, and the top to Rs 18,999. Additionally, you get Rs 2,000 instant cashback with ICICI, HDFC, or SBI cards.
Coming to specifications, the POCO M8 5G runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 on a 4nm chip, a step up from the predecessor POCO M7’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 2. That means smoother multitasking, quicker app starts, and steadier gaming at medium settings in daily use. Users switching from older phones will notice it right away.

The screen is a highlight. The display is 6.77-inch Full HD+ AMOLED with up to a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. That means sharper, brighter, and easier on the eyes than the M7’s bigger but lower-res LCD. If you’re into streaming videos, scrolling social media, or using it outside a lot, this will feel like a solid upgrade, not just a tweak.
For cameras, the rear has a 50MP main shooter with Light Fusion 400 sensor and 4K video. The front jumps to 20MP from the M7’s 8MP, so video calls and selfies should look clearer, though real-world results depend on software tuning, which reviews will show.
Battery’s up a bit to 5,520mAh, but the big win is 45W fast charging with the charger in the box. It also does 18W reverse wired charging, handy for juicing up earbuds or a friend’s phone now and then. Software-wise, it runs Android 15 with HyperOS 2 out of the box, and POCO promises four years of Android updates plus six years of security patches. That’s rare for budget phones and great if you hang onto devices for years.
From a buying perspective, the POCO M8 5G makes the most sense if you can get it during the introductory pricing window, where the combination of display quality, fast charging, and software support is hard to match. At regular prices, it remains competitive but faces strong rivals like Samsung’s Galaxy A17 5G and Realme P4 that may offer cleaner software or better camera tuning. If your priorities are a good screen, quick charging, and long-term updates, the M8 is easy to recommend. If photography is your top concern, it’s worth comparing camera samples from competing phones before deciding.
